This web page provides access to photographs that I have scanned over the past several months. The links below take you ta a page with links to the photos that I think may be of interest to you and your family.
I have been digitizing my photos that were taken with a film camera in an attempt to preserve and archive them before they deteriorate more than they already have.
I am scanning each photo at 1200 dpi and saving them as tiff files. According to what I understand, this is the best resolution and format for preserving the photos. I am then converting the tiff file into a png file. This reduces the size of the file yet still preserves all the information acquired while scanning so none of the picture is lost.
I am doing nothing to improve the image even though it may already be seriously deteriorated. If I or you ever want to display or print or show a photo, it can be tweaked at that time.
I am not sending the photos because the file sizes are still large in the resolution and format I'm saving them in. So what I'm doing is uploading them to an Amazon web server and giving you the links to the files. When you click on the link, depending on how you have your computer set up, the picture may display in your browser window. Again, depending on your computer, you may have to click on it to see the whole picture in the browser window. Next, you should right click on the image to get a pop-up menu with an option to download the picture and save it somewhere where you keep the digital photos you want to keep.
I hope you enjoy getting these photos. Let me know if there is anything I should be doing differently.
